Hi! I'm Audrey; a 17-year-old artist, coder, and entrepreneur who fuses my passion for visual arts with technological innovation.
Sitting on a rock-hard stool for four hours in a critique session, I realized something: There’s got to be an app for this. A quick search on the App Store proved otherwise. There was no platform designed for artists to exchange critique in a structured yet engaging way—only scattered forums and Reddit threads. Frustrated by the inefficiency, I decided to build one myself.
What started as an idea quickly became the most demanding challenge of my junior year. I spent months learning Dart and Flutter, refining UI/UX design, and troubleshooting backend functionality. But the biggest hurdle wasn’t coding—it was getting CritMe into the hands of artists. I overcame challenges in publishing, domain creation, and debugging through the support of working as a barista to fund the hiring of a freelancer for technical assistance. By November 2024, CritMe was fully developed, offering artists a convenient way to refine their work before exhibitions. My aim is to ensure that CritMe fosters creativity and collaboration, preserving the human element in an increasingly digital world.
CritMe goes beyond likes and generic comments, offering tailored, stress-free critiques that help artists grow. With customizable feedback, reputation-building badges, and a rewarding critique system, it’s the perfect space for artists to connect, improve, and thrive.
